NEW YORk, March 19 (Reuters) - Chevron Corp.'s 279,000-barrel per day El Segundo, Calif. refinery is operating normally after issues earlier this week with the instrument air system were resolved quickly, according to a spokesman.
Chevron had reported the restart of a gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracker at the Los Angeles-area refinery in a late Wednesday environmental filing.
The spokesman declined to comment on the FCC's run rate.
'As you know we do not comment on the day-to-day operations of the refinery -- the issues with our instrument air system which caused Tuesday's safety flare event were corrected quickly and the facility is operating normally,' company spokesman Rod Spackman said in an email late Thursday.
Earlier this week, the spokesman had said the refinery began flaring Tuesday due to issues with its instrument air system.
Chevron had warned of unplanned flaring at the refinery in a notice filed with California pollution regulators on Wednesday. The notice said the flaring could last through Thursday morning.
