SYDNEY, March 22 (Reuters) - Australian stocks fell 0.9
percent on Monday, with miners losing ground after worries over
demand hurt commodity prices as investors expected more Asian
central banks to follow India in raising rates to tame inflation.
Arrow Energy fell 3.6 percent after it said it had agreed to a fresh bid from Royal Dutch Shell and PetroChina, raised by six percent to A$3.4 billion ($3.1 billion) for its Australian assets..
Analysts had expected the final offer to touch at least A$5 a share compared to the revised offer of A$4.70.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index snapped a four day winning steak to weaken 42.03 points to 4,830.20, according to latest available data. New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index nudged up 2.9 points to 3,233.30 (Reporting by Narayanan Somasundaram; Editing by Ed Davies)
