UC for Desktop, Mobile, IP Voice and Video Give Users More Communications Options and Control
NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading integrator and provider of advanced communications and technology solutions, today introduced significant enhancements to its unified communications (UC) solutions designed to help companies and end users more simply orchestrate communications in their business and in their life. All of these new features are now on exhibit at VoiceCon Orlando booth 609.
UC for Enterprise (UCE) Updates
NEC's UCE suite now features a host of benefits for end users and administrators alike that can simplify the process of purchasing, installing and using the integrated solution set. New features include:
- New UCE Agent module provides split view and agent screen pop functionality for contact center agents, as well as a simple, clear migration path for existing CC Design users
- New UCE Attendant Room Direct feature for healthcare and Guest Link Basic feature for hospitality to help improve patient and customer satisfaction
- New UCE Mobility features enable users to seamlessly switch from their desk phones to their mobile phones and vice versa with the touch of a button; and users now have enhanced access to presence-enabled directory, buddy lists, dialer pad and call history from any Web-enabled mobile device
- Virtualized server support for reduced hardware costs
- Aggressive bundling, pricing and soft licensing for easier purchasing, with software assurance
- A single master installation DVD and centralized management for easy installation and maintenance
UC for Business Updates
UC for Business (UCB) is designed to offer significant productivity enhancing features, including the following:
- Simplified installation and user-based licensing
- Clear migration path
- Packaged as an embedded application with simplified configuration on NEC's SV8000 communications servers and UNIVERGE Sphericall.
- Pre-packaged UC and contact center options for 50 or 100 users,
including:
- Contact Center Agent desktop
- Executive Insight (with Microsoft® Outlook® integration)
- Rich Presence
- Voicemail / UM
General availability for this configuration is slated for early summer.
UNIVERGE Sphericall
As previously announced, Sphericall now includes enhanced contact center, video and mobility capabilities to help organizations more easily orchestrate communications. New capabilities include:
- Integration with NEC's UC for Business (UCB) Contact Center Agent solution, giving agents the UC tools they need to streamline incoming communications, quickly access information and exceed customer expectations in a timely manner.
- Support for Polycom HDX video solutions, which enable personal interaction over large distances to enhance productivity, real-time decision making and potential reduction in travel costs.
- Enhanced mobility through support for a wider array of choices through wireless (WLAN and IP DECT) phones and access points, including NEC's Business Mobility, which combines the benefits of IP telephony with the quality of DECT technology.

In both instances, NEC helps the customer easily bring together UC functionality, such as voice, video, collaboration, contact centers and mobility, to automate processes and drive business applications through Communication Enabled Business Processes (CEBP).
