From industry-leading 3x3 450Mbps 802.11n MIMO solutions with Transmit Beam Forming that flawlessly transmit high definition wireless video across the home, to cost-optimized specialty chipsets tailored for the new generation of connected digital devices, to record breaking chips with unprecedented levels of miniaturization, integration and power utilization, Ralink''s Computex demo suite offers a glimpse into the future of wireless connectivity.
Key Demo Highlights Include:
(1)High definition video streaming over 802.11n Wi-Fi
Leveraging a variety of strategic partnerships, Ralink will demonstrate various Consumer Electronics and Home Networking devices designed for delivering whole-home, high-definition wireless content. Ralink''s high-performance Wi-Fi solutions are optimized for integration into a variety of high-volume consumer electronics applications including HD televisions, Blu-Ray players, wireless Set Top Boxes, and next-generation "triple play" Broadband Gateways. With Ralink Video Turbine™ technology these solutions deliver the speed, range, and reliability required by Service Providers and OEMs to deploy wireless multimedia solutions in the home.
(2)802.11n IPTV / Blu-Ray DVD solutions
Ralink will demonstrate a series of single chip 802.11n Wi-Fi devices embedded into leading-edge HD televisions and Blu-Ray players. Delivering the industry''s highest throughput, range, and reliability, Ralink''s MediaConnectTM solutions enable users to wirelessly connect an HDTV, Set-Top Box, or Blu-Ray Disc player to a network for streaming access to IPTV Services, Internet@TV, Wireless DLNA content, InfoLink RSS and BD Live services. Leveraging advanced radio and baseband algorithms, Ralink chips deliver cost-effective, feature-rich, and reliable wireless connectivity at high speeds throughout the home.
Ralink''s MediaConnectTM solutions deliver up to 300 Mbps of throughput with support for critical home-user functionality including Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) for a simple and secure out-of-the-box experience, and wireless multimedia capabilities for prioritized quality of service (WMM and WMM-PS). The product family also incorporates a variety of leading-edge radio and baseband processing techniques to improve wireless range and reliability including Beam Forming, Maximum Likelihood Detection, and Maximal Ratio Combining.
(3)Dual-band concurrent 2x2 802.11n BT3.0 combo for mobile PCs
Ralink will demonstrate the RT3592BC8, the world''s only combo solution capable of simultaneous dual-band 2x2 802.11n MIMO and Bluetooth 3.0+HS operation. With support for concurrent use of both 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth''s highest performing modes, the RT3592BC8 elevates wireless mobile computing into a new level of multimedia capability. Peer-to-peer gaming, shared and tethered connections can now be initiated via the simplicity of Bluetooth 3.0+HS detection and setup, while 2x2 MIMO dual-band Wi-Fi boosts data rates to 300Mpbs. Able to function in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, the RT3592BC8 eliminates interference by dynamically adjusting transmission parameters on both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, allowing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to either coexist in the same band or function in separate frequency bands.
Targeting Notebooks, Netbooks and high-volume consumer and commercial PC platforms, the RT3592BC8 delivers an unprecedented level of intelligent coexistence between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. With support for high-performance Bluetooth 3.0 + HS functionality, the RT3592BC8 catapults wireless mobile computing into a new level of multimedia capability by enabling Bluetooth 3.0+HS and dual-band 802.11n with data rates of up to 300Mbps, while maintaining the simplicity of Bluetooth device detection, setup, and management. With an optimized bill of material, simplified design, and integrated manufacturing and testing procedures, the RT3592BC8 delivers significantly lower cost, lower power, and better performance than competitors'' discrete Wi-Fi and Bluetooth products.
The growing popularity of slim, ultra-compact mobile PCs has sparked demand for highly-integrated, co-located wireless solutions. To ensure optimal radio coexistence between WLAN and Bluetooth, the RT3592BC8 combo solution incorporates a sophisticated and patent-pending coexistence algorithm for improved harmony between co-located WLAN and Bluetooth radios. It dynamically adjusts WLAN and Bluetooth transmissions to reduce interference, and it responds automatically to the presence and operating characteristics of nearby Wi-Fi networks. This results in much faster WLAN throughput compared to competing WLAN plus Bluetooth combo devices for PCs.
Wi-Fi Direct for peer-to-peer consumer electronics applications
Ralink will demonstrate its state-of-the-art Wi-Fi Direct technology at Computex. Wi-Fi Direct allows Wi-Fi devices to connect in a new way that makes it more simple and convenient than ever to do things like print, share files, display, and to connect to one another without joining a traditional home, office, or hotspot network. The new technology, previously code-named "Wi-Fi peer-to-peer," can be implemented in any Wi-Fi device, including notebook computers, cameras, printers, and mobile phones, to human interface devices such as keyboards and headphones.
Significantly, devices that support the new specification will also be able to create connections with hundreds of millions of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED legacy devices already in use. Devices will be able to make a one-to-one connection, or a group of several devices can connect simultaneously. The specification targets both consumer electronics and enterprise applications, provides management features for enterprise environments, and includes WPA2® security. Devices that support the specification will be able to discover one another and advertise available services. Wi-Fi Direct devices will support typical Wi-Fi ranges and the same data rates as can be achieved as with an infrastructure connection, so devices can connect from across a home or office and conduct bandwidth-hungry tasks with ease.
