Sept 9 (Reuters) - Sony Pictures Entertainment, a division of Sony Corp, will partner with Marvel Entertainment to animate characters such as Iron Man, X-Men and Blade in Japan and broadcast them worldwide, the Nikkei business daily reported.
The characters will be animated by Japanese animation studio Madhouse and broadcast by cartoon channel Animax Broadcast Japan, a Sony Pictures unit, from Oct. 1 in Japan, Nikkei said.
By creating animated works based on the Walt Disney Co unit's comics in Japan, Sony Pictures expects to create new fans and generate programming and DVD sales worldwide, the Nikkei said.
