April 6 (Reuters) - Crescent Gold Ltd reported positive diamond drilling results from its Laverton gold project in Australia, and the Australian gold miner said it expects to broaden its resource base with further drilling.
Shares of the Perth-based miner were up as much as 44 percent in morning trade. They were trading up at 6.5 Canadian cents on Wednesday morning on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The Laverton gold project comprises the Apollo, Aurora and Calypso gold resources, which are part of an 11-kilometer trend of gold mineralisation that also includes Liberty, Eclipse and Emerald projects.
These projects, as of June last year, were estimated to contain combined resources of 502,000 ounces of gold.
