PORTLAND, OR -- (Marketwire) -- 06/22/11 -- Former Rumblefish Creative Director and VP of Sonic Branding Brian Rupp, and former Director of Client Services Jeff Poteet, have formed Brand Timbre LLC, a strategic sonic branding agency based in Portland, Oregon. Doing business as Timbre (pronounced "tam-ber"), Rupp and Poteet will serve as creative and client-service leads, respectively, as they continue providing a wide range of sonic branding services to both new and long-standing clients.
Rupp and Poteet formed Timbre as an independent agency in early 2011 following a period of corporate restructuring at Rumblefish, the 13-year old music licensing and sonic branding company. With the launch of Friendly Music, a music licensing service created in partnership with YouTube, Rumblefish leadership decided in the summer of 2010 that it needed to focus its efforts exclusively its burgeoning "micro-sync" business. Because Rupp had been operating the sonic branding practice at Rumblefish as an autonomous division since 2008, Rumblefish's Board of Directors allowed him to simply transfer the business to his new company, Brand Timbre LLC, which Rupp formed with Poteet as equal partners.
"Timbre is poised to help bring sonic branding into the mainstream," says Rupp. "We've finally reached the point where the majority of marketers and brand builders recognize the importance of sound -- the power it has to move people on an emotional level, the impact it has on the customer experience, the ability of music to express an organization's humanity and make deep connections. More and more companies want to leverage these attributes, and Timbre has the know-how and the tools to help them do it."
Having spent much of his professional life in radio, Poteet is also enthusiastic. "Music has always been a powerful connector," he says. "But most companies don't know how to translate brand attributes into a distinctive sonic identity. This is something traditional branding agencies just don't typically address. And together with proper licensing, which can be confusing and time consuming, music-related branding and marketing initiatives are increasingly entrusted to specialists like Timbre. Fortunately for us, we have few competitors, and even fewer who are as fluent in this area of branding as we are."
Drawing on the complementary services of companies like Mood Media, Rumblefish, Music Dealers and Muzak, Timbre continues to serve the sound- and music-related needs of clients such as Kaiser Permanente, Columbia Sportswear, Mountain Hardwear, Blue Shield of California, Sorel and the National Australia Bank. Timbre has also launched WellTone™, a comprehensive suite of music and audio messaging solutions tailored specifically to the needs of the healthcare industry.
