WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Patni Computer Systems Limited Tuesday reported a 40.8% drop in its third-quarter net income to $17.02 million from $28.74 million last year, based on U.S. accounting rules. On a per share basis, quarterly earnings per share were $0.13, significantly lower than $0.21 in the prior-year period.
Revenues for the third quarter ended September 30, 2011 advanced 6.8% to $190.96 million from $178.79 million in the comparable period a year ago.
Additionally, the company posted foreign-exchange losses of $6.81 million compared with $4.86 million of gains in the previous year.
