New Spirent/iTrinegy Agreement Offers Enterprises and Cloud Providers a Complete Solution to De-Risk Network and Cloud Migrations and Deployment
Enterprises and cloud providers can now pre-test applications and customers' service upgrades before rolling them out into the live network, thanks to an agreement signed today which enables Spirent Communications to supply iTrinegy network emulation solutions to the European enterprise market.
This agreement with iTrinegy significantly enhances Spirent's offerings in the enterprise space by enabling customers to run accurate network emulation with extensive application tests before committing changes to actual systems. For cloud providers there is an option to test deployments and migrations without risk as a "pay as you go" managed service.
"This is a win-win partnership for our enterprise customers," commented David Hill, Spirent's vice president of EMEA. "Spirent's test solutions lead the industry in reproducing real world traffic conditions, for truly realistic test and monitoring of network function and performance. iTrinegy have brought accurate network emulation to applications. Combine iTrinegy's network emulation with Spirent's traffic emulation and you can see the true impact – under any traffic conditions – of any new application, system upgrade or configuration change on the network without putting the real network at risk. You can even make Quality of Experience assessments in advance – it's that real!"
The network has become so critical to the delivery of applications that it no longer makes sense for companies to put their whole business at risk by applying untested changes. Spirent's real-world solutions are a major advance, because they allow stringent testing of any networked application under both realistic and extreme operating conditions to see how it will actually perform under duress. A network under 24/7 usage is rarely available for testing in this way. Using iTrinegy emulation, the same tests can now be run without touching the operating network. Examples from actual case studies include upgrading or deploying new applications, moving services to the Cloud, upgrading a WAN to MPLS, consolidating application servers and datacenters and moving and distributing workloads.
Spirent now offers three key iTrinegy solutions to enterprises and cloud service providers:
- The best-selling INE Enterprise, serving medium sized organizations with network speeds up to 1Gbps;
- The high-end scalable INE Ultra for speeds up to 10Gbps, covering tens of thousands of network experiences, and suitable for large public network emulation; and
- The downloadable software solution, INE for Windows, emulating networks on a desktop PC – ideal for software engineers wanting to make sure any changes or upgrades are thoroughly 'unit' tested in advance of rollout.
The INE appliances can realistically emulate any number of network elements – LANs, WANs, DSL, modems, satellite, mobile or WiFi links etc. These elements can be linked together to recreate complex networks in detail, with adjustable parameters for link speed, latency, jitter, dropped and error packets, bandwidth by class, device queue sizes, routing, prioritization etc. All this can be performed via a very easy-to-use graphical interface.
Graham Wood, Business Development director at iTrinegy, comments, "We are really excited to be working with Spirent, with its impressive global track record in helping companies to de-risk and evaluate today's changing technologies. Spirent gains our enterprise-strength network emulation technology and iTrinegy gains the opportunity to increase our market traction. We're looking forward to a very successful partnership."
