LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Wolseley plc (WOS.L, WOSCY.PK) posted Tuesday a 16 percent growth in first-quarter trading profit to 185 million pounds from 159 millon pounds a year ago. The improvement reflects one extra day of trading this year in the US, UK, Nordics and Canada, and also gains from property and business disposals.
Quarterly revenues went up 5 percent to 3.64 billion pounds, with like-for-like sales contributing 5 percent. Like-for-like sales climbed 10 percent in the USA, but fell 3 percent in the UK.
