WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Cash America International, Inc. (CSH) reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to Cash America of $37.83 million or $1.18 per share versus $34.71 million or $1.10 per share a year ago. On average, 8 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.23 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items. Total revenue rose to $463.25 million from $368.83 million a year ago. Analysts estimated revenues of $436.40 million. Commenting on the results of the quarter, Daniel Feehan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cash America, said, 'We had a successful quarter in terms of revenue growth and asset expansion as we invested in new loan products oriented to meet the needs of our customers. The increase in our consumer loan portfolio generated a significant increase in revenue, although an attributable increase in expenses for marketing and loss reserves reduced a portion of the near term contribution to earnings...'
