WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Annaly Capital Management Inc. (NLY) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $445.6 million or $0.44 per share, compared to $1.2 billion or $1.84 per share last year.
Excluding the effect of the unrealized gains or losses on interest rate swaps and Agency interest-only mortgage-backed securities, net income for the quarter was $525.3 million or $0.54 per share as compared to $379.3 million or $0.60 per share last year.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.56 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Net interest income for the quarter rose to $717.6 million from $568.2 million last year.
