Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that a recent KLAS report found that 92% of customers who had purchased its Sentri7®Infection Prevention* patient surveillance technology would buy again. Infection Control Systems 2012: Breaking Barriers and Getting Valueialsoreported that Sentri7 Infection Prevention had earned an overall performance score of 88.5% and rated well in all functional areas with no gaps in satisfaction scores.
Another KLAS report, Clinical Decision Support 2011: Understanding the Impactii, rated Pharmacy OneSource Sentri7 as having the highest impact on quality outcomes when compared to other types of clinical decision support tools currently being used in the healthcare market. The product achieved a positive impact score of greater than 80%.
Sentri7® is a web-based platform that aggregates, monitors and delivers patient data in real-time from disparate hospital information systems to assist providers in delivering optimum patient care, reducing drug costs, and improving outcomes. The smart logic contained within the electronic surveillance system allows for a rules-based approach to infection prevention that targets specific conditions to support hospital quality initiatives.
For the Infection Control Systems report, KLAS, an independent healthcare IT vendor research firm that recognizes healthcare vendors for their leadership in working with customers to ensure satisfaction, spoke with 119 providers managing infection control processes on paper and 202 currently using an infection control system. The research specifically focused on system performance for National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) reporting, analytics, interfacing and ability to enhance the efforts of infection prevention professionals.
For the Clinical Decision Support report, KLAS interviewed 404 providers to rate the performance of a variety of decision support tools including care plans, diagnostic decision support tools, disease reference tools, drug databases, drug reference tools, order sets and surveillance tools. The impact was measured by asking providers to rate the influence the various tools had on clinical decisions and standardizing care.
"The stakes are high for patient safety. Using electronic surveillance technology is a critical strategy for hospitals seeking to eliminate healthcare-associated infections and maximize reimbursement in the era of value-based purchasing," said Tim Gibbons, Vice President & General Manager, Pharmacy OneSource, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions. "We are pleased to have received these high scores from customers and believe it demonstrates our commitment to delivering technology to help them identify potential HAI earlier and provide treatment options to reduce overall healthcare cost. This truly shapes the future of healthcare."
