Essential Version 3
Enterprise Architecture Solutions Ltd, sponsors of The Essential Project, have today announced the release of Essential Architecture Manager Version 3, a step-change for the world's leading, free-of-charge, open source enterprise architecture (EA) toolset. An extended Essential Meta-Model, a completely overhauled Viewer, and an improved platform provide an activity-focused, easy to use toolset that allows all stakeholders to realise the true value of EA.
Essential Viewer3 provides an EA management hub, delivering a wealth of dynamically produced views to support key business and IT management activities such as Strategy, Information/Data Management and Security Management. Focused activity packs ease the burden of information capture and deliver interactive views that ensure successful engagement with key stakeholders - providing the insights they need to define and manage business/IT transformation.
Founded in 2009, The Essential Project Community now has over 4000 registered members including representatives of many Fortune500 and FTSE100 companies. Reflecting feedback from real world projects and the Essential Community, this latest release provides a new and flexible way for organisations to manage, explore and analyse their enterprise architecture.
What's New?
Viewer3
A new and improved look and feel for 100 out-of-the-box views; dynamically created graphical views of your business – no more drawing; dynamic linking allowing powerful interrogation and navigation with role-based filtering, dashboards and portals; online manuals explaining views and modelling requirements; improved view development framework making customising, re-branding, extending and adding views even easier.
Viewer3 allows enterprise architects to see beyond IT to deliver real business value.
Meta-Model3
The Essential Meta-Model is now one of the most robust and comprehensive meta-models available in the market. It has improved capabilities for Security Management, Change Management, Data Management and Governance, and fully integrates the Strategy Management and Information/Data Architecture Essential Community extensions.
New features include Geographies and Locations that add a geographic perspective to enterprise assets, e.g. physical site locations, business unit scope of responsibility. Role-based Stakeholders can be associated with any enterprise element, allowing definition of interested parties, e.g. process owners, key system users, data stewards.
Platform3
Focused on improved performance and ease of use, platform changes include a new update tab for installing upgrades and activity packs, and a snapshot tab to enable offline working.
