WASHINGTON, April 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --Rebuilding Together announces the launch of National Rebuilding Month, the organization's nationwide call to provide safe and healthy homes for America's low-income homeowners and families across the country during the month of April. For over 20 years, Rebuilding Together and its 200 affiliates have observed the month of April as a time to bring national attention to America's housing disparity and promote the mission of a "Safe and Healthy Home for Every Person."This year, National Rebuilding Month includes several events throughout April to engage thousands of volunteers across the country.

Annually, Rebuilding Together's National Rebuilding Month mobilizes 70,000 volunteers to complete 4,000 projects. Volunteers help homeowners-in-need by completing critical home modifications and repairs, so that Rebuilding Together's mission is fulfilled.

"National Rebuilding Month serves as a foundation of Rebuilding Together's core mission to provide safe and healthy homes for our neighbors, and it raises awareness on both a grassroots and national level for the critical need that remains in many communities," said Gary A. Officer, president and CEO of Rebuilding Together. "This month long celebration of our mission to rebuild communities is observed through our affiliate network, sponsor contributions, and amazing volunteer base."

National Rebuilding Day, the culmination of the month-long call to service, is celebrated on the last Saturday in April. It is embraced by community leaders and national corporate partners as a way of bringing immediate, large-scale impact to communities across America on a single day.

National sponsors of Rebuilding Together include Sears, Lowe's, Sherwin-Williams, Honeywell, ConocoPhillips, Meredith Corporation, HGTV and DIY Network.
