HOUSTON (dpa-AFX) - Oil services provider Baker Hughes Inc. (BHI) on Monday said the worldwide rig count for March was 3,663, up 229 from March 2011, while down 237 from February 2012.
The international rig count, according to the Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts, for March 2012 was 1,192, up 45 from March 2011, but down 12 from February.
The international offshore rig count increased by eight to 303 in March, but declined by 17 from preceding month of February.
Baker Hughes noted that the average U.S. rig count for March 2012 was 1,979, up 259 from March last year, while average Canadian rig count for March 2012 declined by 75 to 492.
