A choice of doctoral business programs
There are common elements in each specialization that are shared in both degree programs. However, the core curriculum and type of research differs depending on whether a specialization is part of Capella's PhD in Business Management or DBA program. The PhD in Business Management focuses on scholarly research and writing, ethical theory, a global perspective, technology, and a systems-thinking approach. A PhD is often chosen by those seeking faculty positions, as well as leadership, advanced research, or consulting positions. Capella's online DBA focuses on applied research and practical applications. It also features a prescribed course sequence, an applied dissertation project, and built-in dissertation milestones designed to provide students with a clear path toward completing their DBA in three years. Online courseroom discussions, specially designed networking sites, and face-to-face weekend residencies provide ongoing opportunities to build professional relationships and share knowledge with other business leaders around the country.
