COLOGNE (dpa-AFX) - Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DLAKY.PK, DLAKF.PK) reported that its first-quarter net result attributable to shareholders narrowed to EUR 397 million from EUR 507 million in the year ago quarter. It included a result from discontinued operations of EUR 2 million.
The Lufthansa Group improved the revenue by 5.6 percent to EUR 6.6 Billion from EUR 6.3 billion in the year ago quarter. The additional revenue could however not offset the cost increases, in particular for fuel. TheGroup posted an operating loss of EUR 381 million for the latest quarter.
For the financial year 2012 the Executive Board anticipates an increase in revenue and an operating result in the mid-three digit million euro range.
The company said that Potential restructuring costs in connection with the group-wide programme SCORE are not included in this earnings forecast and may have an adverse effect on the result for the current financial year.
