Donation Will Help Organization Plant Hundreds of Trees in Brazilian Rainforest
ROUND2 INC., an Avnet (NYSE:AVT) company within Avnet Integrated Resources and leading eRecycling service provider, announced today that it will be donating $1,480 in observance of their Earth Day initiative that ran throughout the month of April. ROUND2 pledged to donate a tree for every 5,000 pounds of electronics processed in the month of April. With the assistance of employees and several sponsored corporate electronics recycling events in April, ROUND2 was able to accumulate and process 7.4 million pounds of electronics. The Plant a Billion Trees campaign, started by The Nature Conservancy, was established to help rebuild the Atlantic Forest on the coast of Brazil. For every dollar donated, one tree will be planted and will directly help The Nature Conservancy's work in the region.
"The Atlantic Forest is one of the biggest and considered one of the world's most endangered tropical forests," said Randy Weiss, ROUND2's president. "We are excited about the opportunity to work with The Nature Conservancy regarding their reforestation efforts in Brazil, especially since we have a presence there."
Avnet Integrated Resources has several international facilities, including one in Sorocaba, Sað Paulo, in southeastern Brazil. The facility in Sorocaba supports the Brazilian electronics market with refurbishment and repair services for a broad variety of technology products, including cell phones, TVs and computers.
