HOUSTON (dpa-AFX) - Oil services provider Baker Hughes Incorporated (BHI) reported higher worldwide rig count for May 2012 to 3,335 from the 3,131 counted in May 2011. International rig count in May was 1,225, up 74 from the 1,151 counted in May 2011, and the international offshore rig count for the same month was 319, higher than 306 counted in the previous year.
The average U.S. rig count for May 2012 was 1,977, an increase of 141 from the 1,836 counted in May 2011.
