Dr. Jenkins was honored at the Celebrating Women Working and Living with Cancer luncheon at the Essex House in New York City on Wednesday, May 9. She accepted the Red Door Award, which Gilda's Club awards each year to a woman who has contributed to improving the quality of life of anyone who has been touched by cancer. EMD Serono was a proud sponsor of the event.
Gilda's Club New York City, named for Gilda Radner, one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live, opened in 1995. Gilda's Club New York City creates welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer – men, women, teens, and children – along with their families and friends.
"This recognition is a tremendous honor as helping people living with diseases such as cancer is a true passion of mine," says Dr. Jenkins. "I believe that in order to improve patient care, we need to have a comprehensive understanding of the full spectrum of medicine, from the challenges patients face when diagnosed, to the therapy options available to them, and finally to their support needs as they navigate the treatment journey."
Prior to Jenkins' appointment at Merck Serono, she was Senior Vice President, Global Medical, at Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS).
Annalisa Jenkins started her career as a medical officer with the British Royal Navy and worked subsequently for three years for the UK National Health Service.
