Boingo Continues International Expansion Offering Managed Wi-Fi at World's Second Busiest Airport
Boingo Wireless, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIFI), the Wi-Fi industry's leading provider of software and services worldwide, today announced the launch of its managed Wi-Fi services at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), the second busiest airport in the world, through an agreement with Newbridge Technologies.
As a premium Wi-Fi provider at PEK, Boingo will broadcast its "Boingo_Hotspot" SSID and control the user experience, creating a globally recognizable service that is fast and easy to use for millions of international travelers who pass through Beijing Airport. Boingo's managed Wi-Fi service includes sales, authentication, roaming access and support.
"Our new partnership with PEK is a testament to the reliable services we offer our customers worldwide," said Allen Pan, Boingo's director of Asia Pacific. "Demand for Wi-Fi is growing in Asia, and this enables us to provide Wi-Fi access and roaming solutions to even more on-the-go Boingo customers in the region."
Known locally as the "Front Door of China," the Beijing Capital International Airport is the most highly trafficked airport in Asia. According to the Airports Council International, more than 78 million passengers traveled through PEK in 2011.
Travelers can access the Internet using one of Boingo's Wi-Fi plans including Boingo Asia Pacific, providing unlimited access throughout the Asia Pacific region for $11.95 per month, and Boingo Global, providing flat rate access anywhere in the world for $59 per month. Hourly and day pass options will also be available.
The network is also available to Boingo's roaming and platform service partners, including Korea Telecom, LGU+, Orange France and Skype, who wholesale Wi-Fi access from Boingo and provide self-branded Wi-Fi to their customers as part of their existing services.
With this agreement, PEK joins Boingo's portfolio of more than 60 managed airport Wi-Fi locations worldwide including London Heathrow, Chicago O'Hare, New York John F. Kennedy, Denver International, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International, and Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino.
