VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/21/12 -- The facts: 13 cities. 19 Days. 11,000 kilometres. 100,000 pounds of food. One epic road trip starting in Newfoundland and ending in British Columbia.
Five Hole for Food founder, Richard Loat and his friends have driven coast-to-coast, stopping in 13 cities along the way, and playing ball hockey to feed hungry Canadians raising nearly 90,000 pounds of food of their 100,000 pound goal.
Just bring a hockey stick and play in a drop-in ball hockey game. There is no charge to play, but participants and spectators are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation. Volunteers from the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society will be on site to collect donations.
The Vancouver event will host several special guests, who will be playing throughout the day including Mayor Gregor Robertson; Justin Kripps, Olympian; Dan Mangan, musician; Tinsel Korey, actress; and local media personalities.
