WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - In the wake of the deadly mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando, Donald Trump reiterated his call for a temporary ban on Muslim migration to the United States.
His earlier comments about banning Muslims from entering the US had turned controversial.
Trump claimed he had warned of the sort of terrorism that marked the shooting, which killed 50. It was the worst terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11, and the second of its kind in 6 months.
Trump warned that Clinton's presidency would mean hundreds of thousands more Middle East migrants entering the U.S., which according to him is dangerous.
Trump noted that the US Government admits more than 100,000 lifetime migrants from the Middle East each year. Since 9/11, hundreds of migrants and their children have been implicated in terrorism in the United States.
'Hillary Clinton wants to dramatically increase admissions from the Middle East, bringing in many hundreds of thousands during a first term - and we will have no way to screen them, pay for them, or prevent the second generation from radicalizing,' Trump said in a statement issued after the shocking incident in Orlando.
