A number of new mine permits were recently granted, including Thompson Creek's Mt Milligan copper-gold project and Copper Mountain's Copper Mountain project and New Gold's New Afton gold-copper project. SPA has already signed a MOU with the Williams Lake Indian Band, Soda Creek Indian Band and most recently with the Lhtako Dene Nation.
Flagship project with 3.18 Moz gold in M&I Resources
The company has outlined 216 Mt at a gold grade of 0.46 g/t for a total of 3.18 Moz in the Measured and Indicated category. Giroux Consultants completed the PEA and established an economic cut-off of 0.2 g/t gold based on assumptions of operating costs for a potential open pit operation. The project hosts another 3.7 Moz gold in the Inferred Category.
The deposit is open to the north, south and at depth
Most of the drilling focused on the Main Zone, which hosts the current defined mineral resources. The past exploration programs have identified a gold bearing trend which remains open to the north. The trend offers potential for further expansion of the current defined mineral resource to the north, south and at depth.
Strong and experienced Management Team and Board
Spanish Mountain has an experienced management team and an excellent board, which is very impressive for a junior mining company. Dr. Morris Beattie the COO has a PhD in Mining and Mineral Process Engineering from the University of British Columbia and has extensive experience in all aspects of extractive metallurgy and project development. Jim Rogers the co-founder of the Quantum Fund is on the board of the company. Spanish Mountain is the only junior mining company with Jim Rogers on the board.
