WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Electric and natural gas utility CenterPoint Energy Inc. (CNP) reported flat earnings of $147 million, or $0.34 per share, for the first quarter of 2013. On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.37 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
The firm clocked revenues of $2.39 billion in the quarter, up compared with the prior-year figure of $2.08 billion, and beat consensus estimates of $2.33 billion.
Looking ahead, the company revised its estimate for 2013 earnings per share to be in the range of $1.17 to $1.25, taking into consideration the closing of its midstream partnership on May 1, 2013 and the performance to date of its businesses.
