WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - United States Steel Corp. (X) Monday announced a series of new appointments, effective July 1.
Michael Williams, who currently serves as senior vice president - North American flat-rolled operations, has been named senior vice president - strategic planning and business development. Williams succeeds David Lohr, who plans to retire later this year. Williams will report directly to Chief Operating Officer Mario Longhi.
Michael Hatcher has been appointed as vice president - business development and real estate. Hatcher currently serves as vice president - raw materials, procurement and real estate.
Douglas Matthews will succeed Williams in the role of senior vice president - North American flat-rolled operations, and David Britten, who currently serves as vice president - tubular technology and business development, will assume the role of senior vice president - Tubular operations, succeeding Matthews.
George Babcoke will return to the Slovak Republic to serve as senior vice president - European operations and global safety, and president of U. S. Steel Kosice.
David Rintoul, who is currently vice president - European operations and president of U. S. Steel Kosice, will relocate to the United States to fill the newly created position of vice president - innovation and continuous improvement.
