EVRY: EVRY selects technology from Microsoft for its new operating platform

(Oslo, 8 May 2013) EVRY has entered into a technology partnership with Microsoft as part of the development of its new state-of-the-art operating platform - Future Proof. Through this agreement, EVRY will offer its customers an innovative and forward-looking solution, while at the same time the company lays the foundation for a significant reduction in operating costs.

The market demands variable access to processing capacity that reflects fluctuations in the volume of activity in users' own businesses. This means that customers expect complete flexibility so that they always have access to the processing capacity that they need - and when they need it. EVRY will now offer this flexibility through its new Future Proof operating services organisation, using technology from Microsoft.

Innovation and competitiveness

EVRY has accordingly selected Microsoft's platform (Cloud OS) with Windows Server 2012, Hyper-V and System Center 2012 as part of the company's technological foundation for its Future Proof program. In addition to software from Microsoft, EVRY has entered into agreements with hardware vendors to ensure that purchases of new infrastructure can take place "on demand" in response to the company's capacity requirements from time to time.

"Using technology from Microsoft , EVRY will build standardised platforms that combine automation with flexibility. This will play a central role in developing a competitive operating services organisation that delivers services with high standards of reliability and satisfies the market's demands for service quality. With Cloud OS, EVRY will have one of the most innovative and state-of-the-art platforms in the market, and we will be able to offer customers new solutions while at the same time reducing our operating costs. This will deliver greater competitiveness and a speedier transition to cloud services", explains Håvard Larsen, EVP Nordic Operations of EVRY.

"EVRY's ambition is to build the best and most industrialised IT operations centre ever seen in Norway. We therefore welcome EVRY's decision to use our solutions and platforms to achieve this ambitious target, and see this as an important endorsement for Microsoft", comments Hege Skryseth, Managing Director of Microsoft Norway.

Well suited for flexible ways of working

Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V and System Center 2012 form the core of Cloud OS. This platform addresses technology and IT trends that will change our daily life in the years ahead, including new expectations and requirements for more flexible ways of working. Today's employees expect to have access to data, services and apps wherever they are and whenever they wish. They also expect to be able to work from their personal PC, tablet PC or smart phone. In response to these trends, Microsoft's platform makes it possible to develop solutions that are independent of platforms, locations, and devices, while at the same time offering simplified administration and ensuring security.

A forward-looking and industrialised operations centre will deliver major benefits for both EVRY and the company's customers. Consolidation and streamlined administration will allow significant cost savings, while at the same time simplified operations and administration will release time and resources for greater innovation and value creation.

The choice of Microsoft's platform is in addition to the vBlock solution from Cisco, VMware and EMC, which are already installed. There are accordingly now two technological cornerstones for EVRY's new operations concept.
