PEKING (dpa-AFX) - The Chinese yuan firmed against the U.S. dollar in the Asian session on Tuesday.
The yuan approached a record high of 6.1328 against the greenback, up 0.17 percent from yesterday's close of 6.1435.
The People's Bank of China set today's central parity rate for the yuan at 6.1911 per dollar, higher than Monday's reference rate of 6.1998. The Chinese central bank sets the central parity rate every morning and allows the currency to fluctuate up to 1% from the level.
