Kesko's Board of Directors has granted scholarships to talented young athletes and art students for the 26th time. The Kesko scholarships, presented today in Helsinki, were granted to 25 promising young athletes and 16 art students from different parts of Finland.
The total scholarship amount is 40,000 euros and the recipients were chosen on the recommendation of fine arts universities and sports associations. One of the scholarship recipients is Jimi Helin, who took bronze in the European Junior Karate Championships in December 2012. Another is Jenni Saarinen, who won the Junior Ladies' Nordic Championships in figure skating in February 2013. All scholarship recipients are listed in the attachment.
The scholarships, awarded since 1988, are part of Kesko's responsible operations aimed at supporting the careers of talented young people.
Kesko's Fair Play scholarships for grade nine comprehensive school pupils
In addition to the scholarships granted to athletes and art students, Kesko's Board of Directors decided this spring to grant a €50 Kesko Fair Play scholarship for distribution to one grade nine pupil in every comprehensive school class in Finland. The scholarship is a reward to pupils who have promoted peace and tolerance at school and motivation in schoolwork and a positive atmosphere in their schools with their exemplary behaviour.
The Kesko Fair Play scholarship total can amount to €200,000 if all schools and classes distribute the scholarships.
