Etherjack(TM) Technology Enables Cost-Effective Service Provisioning and Increased Service Assurance

London, U.K. May 29, 2013. ADVA Optical Networking (http://www.advaoptical.com/'sc_lang=en) announced today that Zen Internet, a leading provider of award-winning Internet services to business and home users in the UK, has chosen the ADVA FSP 150 (http://www.advaoptical.com/en/products/carrier-ethernet.aspx) to scale its Ethernet delivery platform and efficiently hand over services to service provider partners. Integrated Etherjack(TM) technology provides Zen with comprehensive levels of service intelligence and end-to-end monitoring while a partnership with Imtech ICT UK (http://imtech.com/EN/ICTUK) ensures an always-on network. These tools are critical in the delivery of differentiated Carrier Ethernet services and the proactive monitoring of the network to guarantee and meet strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

"Our customers rely on our network 24/7, so we can't risk their business or our reputation on infrastructure that has limited capabilities," said Andrew Saunders, head of product management and marketing, Zen Internet. "That's why we chose the ADVA FSP 150. It directly meets our challenges and enables us to save resources on backhaul provisioning and resolving network issues before they affect services. Through the creation of 200 new Points of Presence (PoPs), we are extending the availability of our Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) and Optical Ethernet service with superior quality at industry leading prices."

Zen has continually invested in its network and services over the years to ensure that businesses of all sizes along with home users can benefit from solutions previously only available to larger organizations. Due to this investment, they can meet the more demanding needs of customers as communication and bandwidth requirements increase. New services can quickly be provisioned to help customers get up and running within days. As even a few minutes of downtime can be devastating for customers, Zen Internet ensures high service reliability and support to avoid these difficulties.

"Delivering world class Ethernet services to enterprises requires access and aggregation equipment that is highly reliable, flexible and efficient," said Robin Abel, director sales UK, ADVA Optical Networking. "Through our partnership with Imtech ICT UK, we've optimized Zen Internet's investment in aggregation at the exchange. The ADVA FSP 150 allows them to standardize on a single access and aggregation device to ensure rapid service delivery that saves resources and enables Zen Internet to focus on their customers."

The ADVA FSP 150 is a family of intelligent Ethernet access and aggregation devices designed to optimize site costs, increase service offerings and reduce operational expenditures. By implementing service intelligence based on the latest OAM standards, service providers can guarantee the highest service availability essential for business Ethernet services. The ADVA FSP 150 monitors availability, latency, jitter and packet loss, all of which are critical for verifying SLA conformance and providing an advanced indication of performance degradation before a service outage occurs.
