EVRY (dpa-AFX) - French grocery retailer Carrefour Group (CRERF.PK, CRRFY.PK, 0NPH.L) reported second-quarter 2014 consolidated sales of 20.52 billion euros, including VAT, a 5.2% growth at constant exchange rates, and a 0.3% improvement at current exchange rates year-over-year. Meanwhile, the Group's organic growth reached 4.9%. According to the company, sales for the quarter were impacted by the combination of a currency effect, a drop in petrol prices and by the later Easter holidays.
In the second quarter 2014, total sales under banners, including petrol, stood at 24.6 billion euros, up 5.1% at constant exchange rates.
In Europe, quarterly organic sales rose by 1.9%, excluding the estimated calendar impact of +0.9% and the drop in petrol prices. On the other hand, organic sales growth in France continued in all formats, with the drop in petrol prices at the pump having a 1.4% impact.
