WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Crown Holdings, Inc. (CCK) reported net income for the third quarter of $244 million or $1.76 per share, compared to $101 million or $0.73 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted earnings per share in the third quarter increased to $1.36 from $1.04 in the third quarter of last year.
Net sales for the third quarter rose to $2.59 billion from $2.39 billion a year ago, mainly due to the impact of the Mivisa acquisition.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.21 per share on revenue of $2.61 billion for the third quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
