- Achieves high reliability mission critical systems on cloud platforms -
Tokyo, Jan 30, 2015 - (JCN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the global release of a solution employing NEC's EXPRESSCLUSTER clustering software to improve availability of the in-memory database software, SAP HANA(R), running on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing service.
In recent years, cloud usage has gained heavy momentum, and the number of corporations using SAP HANA on cloud-based service platforms has been increasing. Moreover, the number of companies utilizing SAP HANA not only for the high-speed analysis of Big Data, but also for their core business-critical systems is increasing too, and needs to improve the availability of SAP HANA run on cloud-based services have been growing.
Until now, in providing its system-building services that utilize SAP HANA, NEC has been independently conducting verification testing with regards to improved availability for SAP HANA. Furthermore, the EXPRESSCLUSTER software has acquired the No.1(1) market share in the Asia Pacific region for five years running, and has achieved numerous delivery results geared towards systems that run on NEC Cloud IaaS and AWS.
NEC participated in SAP Japan's SAP COIL PoC Project powered by AWS to verify implementations of cloud system configurations utilizing SAP solutions that run on AWS, and conducted verification testing for improving availability by using SAP HANA in conjunction with EXPRESSCLUSTER. Based on the results of these verifications, NEC developed a solution and now announces its global release.
By the introduction of this solution, EXPRESSCLUSTER automatically detects system faults in SAP HANA run on AWS, in other operational and maintenance applications etc. that carry out backup and monitoring, and in the system as a whole, and automatically switches over to a standby server (failover). In this way, it shortens downtime and achieves the high availability and operational efficiency that are demanded of mission critical systems.
Going forward, NEC plans to make this solution available for NEC Cloud IaaS and other cloud-based services, as well as customers' internally built (on-premise) systems.
