WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Humana Inc (HUM) reported a profit for its fourth quarter that increased compared to the same period last year.
The company said its bottom line rose to $431 million, or $1.45 per share. This was up from $324 million, or $1.09 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.45 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter rose 8.4% to $13.36 billion. This was up from $12.33 billion last year.
