VIENNA (dpa-AFX) - Tesla Motors Inc. voluntarily recalled more than 7000 charging adapters. The company said these adapters of Nema 14-30, 10-30 and 6-50 are sold separately as accessories.
Earlier in November, two customers had complained about overheating issue of Nema 14-30 charging adapters. Tesla confirmed in its recall communication that there were no other similar incidents or reports of injuries or property damage.
The recalled adapters are manufactured six months ago by a supplier. Tesla said it would replace 14-30 adapters with a newly manufactured ones through its stores and service centers. All the returned materials will be recycled.
Earlier in 2012, the company had recalled an accessory and later in 2013, it has recalled 90,000 Model S cars to rectify a seat-belt issue. The electric car manufacturer had to recall 3000 Model X SUVs in last April for issues in its third row seats.
Tesla has been aiming to deliver around 80,000 vehicles in 2016 and has achieved delivery of more than 55,000 through the third quarter.
