Hospital and Marion Ancillary Services Replace Existing System with Misys Laboratory(R) to Automate Operations and Connect Both Facilities with Remote Physician Clinics
Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that another leading healthcare organization, Marion General Hospital and Marion Ancillary Services of Marion, Ohio, will use Misys Healthcare Systems to automate its laboratory operations. The Hospital will rely on Misys Laboratory, an industry-leading laboratory information system, to compile, track and process specimen data. At least 75 Marion General Hospital and Marion Ancillary Services lab users and 200 clinic office users will benefit from Misys Laboratory through an increase in productivity from laboratory-wide automation. Additionally, the facilities will use Misys Encompass(TM) to access specimen data from remote physician clinics and share results.
"After careful evaluation of laboratory automation solutions, Marion selected Misys Laboratory because it is the most comprehensive, customizable system for collection management, specimen tracking and Web-based orders and results, and they also have an outstanding reputation for strong client support," said Joe Hooper, vice president, Marion General Hospital. "We are committed to utilizing the latest in laboratory service technology to meet the acute care needs of the entire Marion population, as well as its patients in surrounding counties."
Marion General Hospital and Marion Ancillary Services purchased Misys Laboratory and supporting modules including Misys Microbiology, Specimen Collection, Specimen Management, Routing and Tracking (SMART) solution and Outreach Business Solutions. With Misys Laboratory and its modules, caregivers at Marion General Hospital and Marion Ancillary Services can share microbiology and epidemiological results in a paperless environment, automate specimen collection wirelessly from the bedside and satellite drawing areas, track specimen location and status, and manage results by episode to improve communication between physicians, clinics and managed care organizations.
Marion General Hospital provides inpatient care while the Marion Ancillary Services provides outpatient services. The two organizations have a common patient database and with Misys Encompass, physicians can easily access patient information to improve patient care via a secure, hosted Web-based application whether at the hospital, outpatient center, or remotely from clinical offices.
"Like our other 1,200 hospital clients, caregivers at Marion General Hospital and Marion Ancillary Services will realize significant benefits from creating an automated acute care community," said Richard Atkin, president of Misys Healthcare Systems' Hospital Systems business unit. "We look forward to working with Marion and their healthcare professionals to facilitate instant communication between the hospital, the outpatient center, and the remote clinical offices."
As the goal of connecting the different venues of care in healthcare via interoperable systems continues to take shape, Misys answers caregivers' needs by developing easy-to-use, clinically superior systems that allow physicians and other providers to make more informed decisions and improve patient safety, business efficiencies and hospital-physician relations.
