PARIS (AFX) - Renault SA aims to raise production at its car factory in Douai, northern France to 500,000 vehicles per year, up from the current annual output of 425,000, site director Jerome Olive said.
At a press conference in Douai, Olive denied rumours that the site could be closed as part of Renault's Contract 2009 development plan. He did not set out a timeframe for meeting the production target.
The Contract 2009 programme, set out by chief executive Carlos Ghosn earlier this year, calls for an increase in sales, mainly through the introduction of new models, and a reduction in operating costs. paris@afxnews.com afp/js/ks COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005.
