FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Deutsche Telekom AG plans to reduce the number of German offices that deal with accounting and internal audit to six from currently 48, cutting 400 of the 1,200 jobs in those operations, Financial Times Deutschland said, citing the company.
The newspaper cited people familiar with the plans, which were then confirmed by a company spokesman, according to Financial Times Deutschland.
Deutsche Telekom is also looking into moving the remaining accounting and internal audit operations to Hungary, the newspaper quoted the sources as saying.
The spokesman, however, said it is the company's 'clear goal' to keep those jobs in Germany. ludwig.burger@thomson.com lb/lam COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
