Zell, Germany (ots) - Euro-Line, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of its new product line, ME² Solar[TM] at Intersolar 2008 in Munich (Hall B6 Stand 144). The ME² Solar[TM] line is based on innovative CIGS solar technology and is composed of a glass module line and a foldable solar panel line
The new glass module product utilizes high quality Copper Indium Gallium diSelenide (CIGS) solar cells in order to deliver reliable power at an effective cost. These modules are manufactured to IEC 61646 standards with an ultra clear, toughened glass along with a 3 layer Tedlar® backing with an aluminum interlayer on a reinforced anodized aluminum frame. The product line consists of 6, 9, 15, 30, 45, 60, and 90 Watt modules. This product line is well suited for a variety of applications including rural electrification, battery charging, lighting systems, and much more.
The new ME² Solar[TM] foldable product line also uses CIGS technology. The solar cells are laminated on tear-resistant nylon creating a light-weight, flexible, and durable portable power solution. The foldable line offers higher cell efficiency than any other flexible solar cell technology at a reduced cost. This innovative power solution folds together for easy transport and is perfect for applications needing high quality, high output portable power. The Foldable line consists of a 6.5, 12, and 25 Watt solar panel and the Xpedition line consists of a 30 and 62 Watt solar panel.
CIGS technology does not use silicon as its active photovoltaic light absorbing material which means it does not suffer from raw material shortages unlike other solar technologies. The process only uses small quantities of active material which translates to a high energy payback. Studies have also shown that CIGS material actually yields more energy per kilowatt installed compared to traditional crystalline products due to its better performance in low light conditions. Due to its solid state crystalline form, CIGS cells do not suffer from light-induced degradation unlike other photovoltaic technologies. On the contrary, CIGS cells become more efficient when exposed to long-term sunlight.
