The Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) announces the nominees for awards to be presented at the GSA Awards Dinner Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif.
The awards program recognizes semiconductor companies that have demonstrated excellence through their vision, strategy, execution and future opportunity in the industry. The award categories and nominees are as follows:
The Most Respected Private, Emerging Public and Public Semiconductor Company awards identify companies that garner the most respect in terms of products, vision and future opportunity, as voted by industry peers.
Private company nominees are:

- Open-Silicon, Inc.
Emerging public company nominees are:
- Actel Corporation
- Atheros Communications
- Cavium Networks
Public company nominees achieving $500 million to $10 billion in annual sales are:
- Broadcom Corporation
- Qualcomm CDMA Technologies
- Xilinx, Inc.
Public company nominees achieving greater than $10 billion in annual sales are:
- Intel Corporation
- Texas Instruments
GSA and financial analysts evaluate the financial health of public semiconductor companies by comparing a number of financial indices to determine the winner of the Best Financially Managed Semiconductor Company Award.
Nominees are:
- Analog Devices, Inc.
- Linear Technology Corporation
- MediaTek, Inc.
Private companies that doubled either revenue or net income over eight consecutive quarters ending June 2008 may be eligible to receive the Outstanding Financial Performance by Private Semiconductor Company Award. Winners will be announced at the event.
The Start-Up to Watch Award is designed to identify the company that demonstrates the potential to positively change its market or the semiconductor industry in general through either the innovative use of semiconductor technology or a new application for semiconductor technology, as evaluated by the GSA Venture Capital Advisory Board.

The Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award recognizes individuals for their exceptional contributions to drive the development, innovation, growth and long-term opportunities for the semiconductor industry. This prestigious award will be presented to semiconductor veteran Dr. Eli Harari, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of SanDisk Corporation.
