Taqua®, LLC, a leading supplier of next-generation wireless and wireline switching systems and applications, today announced that it was chosen to replace the legacy switching network at Big Bend Telephone.
Big Bend Telephone is a Local Exchange Carrier that provides telephony services to a subscriber base located throughout an 18,000 square mile, sparsely populated area of rugged terrain in West Texas. Seven Taqua 7000 switching systems were deployed to replace Big Bend Telephone's access tandem and legacy Class 5 switches.
"There were some obvious business and many technological reasons that we chose to replace our legacy switching network," said Rusty Moore, chief technology officer. "It was similar to our 2003 decision when we began our evolution to the next-generation technology. We wanted a technically flexible switching solution backed by a reliable business organization that we could count on for many years in the future. After working with Taqua for seven years we have grown to appreciate the flexible nature of the T7000 and its reliability. The T7000 is truly a state of the art next-generation switching platform and the Taqua organization has proven to be a successful entity for over ten years."
"Big Bend's network replacement is a case study of the Taqua 7000 switching system's versatility and reliability," said Scott Weidenfeller, chief marketing officer for Taqua. "There is no better way to evaluate a switching system than to have it live in your network for over seven years. Big Bend is using the T7000 for a variety of Class 5, Class 4, TDM, and IP functionality. The system has replaced large and small switching systems and remotes."
About the Taqua 7000 Switching System (T7000)
The Taqua 7000 Switching System (T7000) is a leader in Class 5 switch replacement and has successfully replaced virtually every brand and vintage of Class 5 switch in North America. The T7000 is based on a patented "switch-on-a-card" design, in which all the functions of a Class 5 switch or IP gateway are performed on a single circuit pack. The simplicity of the architecture enables the industry's lowest deployment and operational costs for an end-office exchange, as well as higher reliability with its fewer components. The field-hardened T7000 has been shipping since 2000 and can support a variety of protocols and interfaces including SS7, SIP, MGCP, H.248, GR-303, CAS, NCS, PRI, GSM/CDMA, 2G, 3G, and 4G.
