FRANKFURT, March 29 (Reuters) - Deutsche Telekom is interested in Serbian phone company Telekom Srbija, in which the Belgrade government intends to sell a 40 percent stake, the German company said on Monday.
'Telekom Srbija fits with our takeover strategy,' a company spokesman said, noting it was keen to round out its existing operations in southern and eastern Europe. He declined to go into more detail.
Serbia plans to auction a stake in Telekom Srbija, the country's most successful state-run firm, in September and aims to use the proceeds for much-needed investment, the prime minister said on Friday.
