First Stop on Nate's Summer Listening Tour is home of Amy Tiemann, aka "Mojo Mom"
As part of Nate Berkus' "listening tour" to find out what is on the minds of America's Moms, his first stop was at the Chapel Hill, North Carolina home of Dr. Amy Tiemann, a nationally-recognized parenting author and educator. Tiemann is the creator of the popular online resource MojoMom.com, featuring her blog and The Mojo Mom Podcast. Her online outreach is an extension of her acclaimed books Mojo Mom: Nurturing Your Self While Raising a Family and Courageous Parents, Confident Kids:Letting Go So You Both Can Grow.
Prior to the September 13th launch of The Nate Berkus Show, his new nationally-syndicated daytime show produced by Harpo Studios and Sony Pictures Television, Berkus came to Chapel Hill to interview Elizabeth Edwards and meet with local moms. A popular design expert and New York Times best-selling author, Berkus has been a regular contributor to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" since 2002. His new daily series will explore a broad range of lifestyle subjects providing take-away information and inspiration that will make a real difference in viewers' daily lives.
To find out what is on the minds of his viewers Berkus sat down with Tiemann and four other moms, all with varying backgrounds, ages, and issues, and discovered they shared a common challenge, the never-ending battle that mothers face in taking care of themselves as well as they care for their families.
"It was really cathartic for this group of diverse women to sit around and just talk about the issues and thoughts on our minds," said Tiemann. "As moms, we often push our own needs to the back of our minds, so having someone as compassionate as Nate ask us thoughtful questions and really want to hear our responses - that was quite an amazing experience."
