FORT WORTH (dpa-AFX) - American Airlines, a subsidiary of AMR corp. (AMR), said its July traffic increased 1.7% to 12.18 billion revenue passenger miles, while its capacity for the month grew 0.9% to 13.88 billion available seat miles.
American Airlines reported a July load factor of 87.7%, compared to 87% in July last year.
The airline boarded 8.18 million passengers in July, up 1.5% from 8.07 million in the same month last year.
International traffic increased by 5.2%t relative to last July on a capacity increase of 3.0%, resulting in an increase in international load factor of 1.8 points versus the same period last year. Domestic load factor matched last year's 88.5% level, as capacity and traffic decreased by similar amounts of 0.6% and 0.7% year-over-year, respectively.
American Eagle, another subsidiary of AMR corp. (AMR), reported a July traffic increase of 15.7% year over year as capacity increased 12.6%. July load factor was 78.2%, an increase of 2.1 points compared to the same period last year.
