Habitat for Humanity is celebrating its 500,000th and 500,001st milestone houses since the nonprofit housing organization was founded in 1976. The 500,000th Habitat for Humanity home will be dedicated in Maai Mahiu, Kenya, on World Habitat Day, Oct. 3. On the same day, walls will be raised on Habitat's 500,001st house in Paterson, N.J., to demonstrate the ongoing commitment to creating adequate housing around the world.
