CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - Japan is on Monday scheduled to release preliminary gross domestic product figures for the fourth quarter of 2011, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.
GDP is expected to contract 0.3 percent on quarter following the 1.4 percent increase in the third quarter. On an annualized basis, GDP is tipped to shrink 1.3 percent after collecting 5.6 percent in the previous three months.
Also, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will release the December results for its index on tertiary industry. Analysts are expecting an increase of 0.8 percent on month following the 0.8 percent contraction in November.
Australia will announce December numbers for housing finance, with forecasts suggesting an increase of 1.8 percent on month following the 1.4 percent increase in November.
