Axway B2B Integration Solution to Enable Enterprises and Member States to Cut Costs and Increase Global Competitiveness
Axway (NYSE Euronext: AXW.PA), the Business Interaction Networks company, announced that Nathan Associates has selected the company's business-to-business integration (B2Bi) solution to power the ASEAN Single Window (ASW) pilot program implemented by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The ASW program, supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of State under its ASEAN Development Vision to Advance National Cooperation and Economic Integration (ADVANCE) program, aims to dramatically reduce the time needed to process import and export documents, allowing businesses to operate more efficiently and significantly accelerate the development of member nations' economies and manufacturing infrastructures.
"For growing free trade zones, where speed to delivery and visibility into the entire import/export process is so critical, single window programs have the potential to serve as the backbone of economic growth," said Paul French, VP, product and solutions marketing, Axway. "Axway is committed to helping the ASEAN strengthen its technology infrastructure in order to drive greater global competitiveness and make the region as a whole more attractive for international manufacturing and logistical needs. We are proud to power the ASW pilot, which will ultimately cut costs for trading partners and member states, and eventually improve the region's global trading capabilities."
Seven of the ten ASEAN nations will take part in the initial ASW pilot, including Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The electronic single window enables companies and traders to submit import, export and transit data only once, thus streamlining the entire import and export process. From cross-border exchange of electronic transaction data to the harmonization and standardization of electronic data needed to process and clear shipments, the ASW program will provide a secure and efficient mechanism for communication among the national windows that reduces the cost of doing business.
Axway B2Bi offers enterprise-class functionality to provide secure B2B communications and seamless enterprise application integration with back-end systems, while reducing software, training and maintenance costs. Axway's B2Bi solution was selected based on ease and speed of implementation, and dramatically improved visibility, which were critical to the success of the project implementation.
Building Global Economies of Scale Needs Single Window Initiatives
Axway's work with the ASW pilot signals the company's commitment to improving the global trading infrastructure, with the ability to be replicated in other regions. The cost savings associated with the single window process are expected to be significant.
"Axway's B2Bi solution integrates securely with the entire trading community, from companies to nation states, with high availability and scalability to support the needs of a growing manufacturing industry," said Joe Fisher, executive vice president of product strategy and solutions, Axway. "We are able to build a system that not only connects with legacy ERP, EDI and B2B systems, but also has the ability to meet the growing technology demand as the program expands to additional member nations and corporations that wish to implement the single window."
Axway B2Bi technology is well-suited for these implementations based on its ability to consolidate existing legacy technologies with a next-generation B2B integration solution. The new platform manages the full end-to-end scope of business processes, including order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, replenishment, planning and forecasting, and transportation and logistics. The partner community can also leverage Web EDI, secured endpoints and built-in B2B managed file transfer, with the best fit-to-cost architecture for each trade zone's specific requirements.
