WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM) Wednesday named its Executive Vice President Gary Goldberg as president, reflecting his 'increased scope and organizational responsibilities' within the company. Goldberg will also continue to serve as the company's chief operating officer.
Goldberg joined Newmont last December as executive vice president and COO and is responsible for worldwide Operations, Projects, Safety and Loss Prevention, among others. He previously spent 30 years at Rio Tinto plc in senior positions, including serving as CEO of Rio Tinto Minerals from 2006 to 2011.
