DALLAS (dpa-AFX) - AT&T Inc. (T) said Saturday that the Communications Workers of America and the company have agreed to a five-day extension of the core wireline contract in the Southeast region and negotiations are continuing. The Telecommunications giant noted that a settlement was not reached with the union by the 11:59 p.m. ED TAugust 4.
The contract, which covers more than 22,000 wireline employees in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, was extended until 11:59 p.m. EDT August 9.
The ongoing negotiations reflect the spirit of the longstanding relationship between the company and the union.
T closed Friday's trading at $37.58, up $0.04. In after-hours trading, the stock declined $0.07 or 0.19 percent and ended at $37.51.
